Phil's Background

Pioneering Sustainable Finance

As CEO, Phil developed and grew a specialist renewables lender in the UK, providing over £0.75 billion in funding for the construction of renewable waste-to-energy biogas projects.

His leadership resulted in the successful completion of over 50 projects, including 10+ biomethane "gas to grid" plants owned and operated by the company.

Driving Innovation in Renewable Energy

Phil's passion for sustainability and decarbonisation has led him to spearhead numerous innovative projects in the renewable energy sector.

He successfully restructured and sold a distressed large-scale 40MW battery storage and 20MW gas-peaking project, achieving gross proceeds that exceeded the original debt exposure.

M&A and Due Diligence Expertise

With a keen eye for value creation, Phil has advised on successful M&A transactions within the UK, Europe, and the US in renewable energy and asset finance.

His expertise includes buy-side commercial due diligence, notably on a £2 billion transaction in Northern Europe in the Energy-from-Waste (EfW) biomethane space.

Transforming Financial Institutions

Phil's strategic vision extends to helping financial institutions embrace sustainable finance.

He advises UK banks on their sustainable assets lending strategy, helping them develop and implement credit risk policies, criteria, and processes that align with sustainability and ESG targets.
